Marie von Buelow was born on February 12, 1857, to Stanislaus Schanzer, who became the Minister of Defence in Austria. Before becoming an actress, she made her stage debut in Basel in 1875 and went on to perform in several cities including Karlsruhe, Danzig, and Hamburg. After marrying, she supported her husband, a prominent musician, and at one point traveled to Cairo with him during his illness.
Career
Marie returned to acting shortly before World War I and took on various supporting roles in films over the next decade. She often portrayed characters such as mothers, landowners, and beggars. Despite facing challenges, including jealousy from other performers, she remained committed to her acting career while managing a home for her husband.
