Born on August 19, 1924, in San Fernando, California, Marilyn Harris was soon placed in an orphanage before being adopted by the Harris family when she was just a month old. Her adoptive mother, a failed actress, pushed for her daughter to achieve stardom, but Marilyn later described her mother as overbearing and abusive.
Career
Harris began her acting career as a child, making her credited debut in “Frankenstein” at the age of seven, where she portrayed the iconic character of Little Maria. Although she had a few notable roles, much of her work consisted of uncredited extras, and after several years in the industry, she chose to retire at 19 and focus on family life. She married Wally Watkins in 1944 and remained a housewife until his death in 1981.
