Born Marjorie Joy Miller on August 10, 1930, in Tacoma, Washington, Marjie had a vibrant life before her acting career. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1949 and later from Stephens College in 1951. Throughout her life, she was married four times, including to John Dennis McCallum and John Florea, though both marriages ended in divorce.
Career
Marjie’s acting career shone brightly in the 1950s, where she appeared in notable films and television shows. She gained fame for her roles in Money from Home, About Mrs. Leslie, and starred in various TV series such as Dragnet and The O. Henry Playhouse. However, her career faced a tragic turn after a car accident in 1958 partially crippled her, forcing her to move back to her hometown and open a dancing school.
Death and Legacy
Marjie Millar passed away on April 16, 1966, in Coronado, California, due to cirrhosis of the liver, a condition she battled for about five years. Alongside cirrhosis, chronic pancreatitis also contributed to her untimely death. She was cremated at Cypress View Crematory in San Diego, California, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hollywood’s rising stars in the early 50s.
