Personal and Family Life

Mark Hammer was married twice; first to Carolyn Swift Jones and later to Edna Joyce Clark, with whom he had two children, including David Henry Hammer. He earned a master’s degree in theater from Catholic University in 1962 after attending Stanford University. Throughout his career, he was a prominent faculty member in the Drama Department at Catholic University.

Death and Legacy

Mark Hammer died on February 15, 2007, due to complications from kidney failure stemming from diabetes and sepsis while in a hospital in Jersey City. His contributions to theater and film, particularly in Washington D.C.’s Arena Stage and New York’s Shakespeare Festival, left a lasting impact on the acting community.
