Martha Montgomery was married twice, first to composer Alfred Newman from 1947 until his death in 1970, and then to Robert O. Ragland from 1974 until her passing. She had five children: Thomas, David, Maria, and Tim Newman. She was also related to several composers, including her nephew Randy Newman.
Career
Before becoming an actress, Martha worked for Powers Modeling Agency until she was contracted by 20th Century-Fox. She was also a Goldwyn Girl and graduated from the University of Tennessee. In honor of her late husband, she donated $1 million to the University of Southern California, which was used to create the Alfred Newman Recital Hall.
