Mary Meigs was an American actress who is best known for her role in Strangers in Good Company.
Personal and Family Life
Mary was born on April 27, 1917, and grew up in Philadelphia and Washington. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1939 and later attended the Art Students League in New York. She had a close-knit family, but unfortunately, she lost several family members in the years leading up to her death.
Career
Although primarily a painter and illustrator, Mary began her writing career at the age of 64, producing five books that mainly focused on essays, biographies, and memoirs. Notably, she had significant relationships with poet Barbara Deming and novelist Marie-Claire Blais, which influenced her artistic journey.
Death and Legacy
Mary Meigs passed away on November 25, 2002, in Montreal, Quebec, from complications related to a stroke. At the time of her death, she was working on a book about her twin sister, Sarah, who had died in 1998. Her contributions to art and literature continue to be remembered and celebrated.
