Maurizio D’Ancora, born Rodolfo Gucci, was from Florence, Italy. He married actress Sandra Ravel in 1944, and they had a son named Maurizio in 1948. Tragically, Sandra passed away in 1954, leaving D’Ancora a widower.
Career
D’Ancora first gained attention at the age of seventeen when Danish director Alfred Lind cast him in the film Ragazze non scherzate (1929). His breakthrough came with the movie Rotaie in the same year, where his charm and talent quickly made him popular with both audiences and critics. In 1946, he shifted gears, leaving acting to focus on the family business, the Gucci fashion house.
Death and Legacy
Maurizio D’Ancora passed away on May 15, 1983, in Milan, Italy. Although his acting career was short-lived, he is remembered for his contributions to early Italian cinema. His legacy is also sustained through the portrayal of his family’s story in contemporary media, notably the film House of Gucci.
