Max Croiset was married to Jeanne Verstraete, with whom he had two children. He was the father of actors Hans Croiset and Jules Croiset, both of whom also gained recognition in the Dutch theater. Although his marriage ended in divorce, his family continued the legacy of their father’s artistic talent.

Max Croiset passed away on April 7, 1993, in The Hague, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He left behind a rich legacy in the Dutch acting community, having won a Louis d’Or in 1966, which is the Dutch equivalent of the Tony Award for best actor. Interestingly, he declined this honor, while both of his sons later accepted the same award.
