Born on January 24, 1928, in Brunoy, France, Serrault initially wanted to become a priest and entered a seminary at a young age. However, he left after falling in love with a girl. He later married Nita Saint-Peyron in 1958, and they had two daughters, Caroline and Nathalie. Unfortunately, Caroline died in a car accident in 1977.
Career
Michel Serrault began his career in cabaret before transitioning to film in the 1950s. He was known for his versatility, able to portray both comedic and dramatic roles. His performance as Albin (Zaza) in La Cage aux Folles (1978) became iconic, making him a favorite in both French and international cinema. Serrault received several accolades throughout his career, including three César Awards for Best Actor.
