Mihailo ‘Misa’ Janketic was married to Svjetlana Knezevic in 1972, and they had four children together. He was also a father to the actor Marko Janketic. Besides acting, he served as a professor of acting at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, influencing many aspiring actors throughout his career.

In December 2003, Janketic received the Life Achievement Award “Dobricin prsten” for his outstanding performances in Serbian theaters.
