Mike Morris

Mike Morris was an American actor who is best known for his roles in “Good Morning Britain,” “Calendar,” and “Fat Friends.”

Personal and Family Life

Mike was born in Harrow, Middlesex, in June 1946. He was educated at St Paul’s School in London and earned a BA in American and English Literature from Manchester University. He was married to Alison Jones from 1975 until his death in 2012 and had two daughters named Sarah and Helen.

Career

Mike began his career in journalism with the Surrey Comet in 1969 and later worked at AAP Reuters as bulletins editor. He transitioned to television, starting with Thames TV in 1979, and became known as a sports reporter. In 1983, he joined TV-am as a presenter and eventually became the anchorman for “Good Morning Britain” in 1987. He also served as a regular presenter on Yorkshire TV’s “Calendar.”

Death and Legacy

Mike Morris passed away on October 22, 2012, in Dorking, Surrey, due to heart failure. He is remembered for conducting the first live British television interview with Nelson Mandela after Mandela’s release from prison, marking a significant moment in broadcasting history.
