Morris Strassberg was born on April 18, 1897, in Lemberg, Galicia, which is now Lviv, Ukraine. He married May Misbinsky on July 13, 1925, and they had two daughters. His father was Abraham Aber Sherndish, and his mother was Sarah Altschuler. Strassberg was also the grandfather of actress Susan Varon.
