Mortimer Haig Lichtenstein, known as Mort Marshall, was married to Anne Sinclair Muir from 1950 until his death, and they had two children together. He had a close family background, with his father, Perry Maurice Lichtenstein, and his mother, Louise Marian Cooke. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mort Marshall died from coronary arrest on February 1, 1979.
