Nara Leão was the daughter of Altina Lofego and Jairo Leão. She had a sister, Danuza Leão, who also achieved fame as an actress, columnist, and model. Nara was married to Carlos Diegues, with whom she had two children, Isabel and Francisco Diegues. She cherished her role as a grandmother to José Pedro Bial.
