Nicholas Hannen was married twice. His first marriage was to Muriel Morland in 1907, but they separated in 1923. Later, he married Athene Seyler in 1960 and remained with her until his death. He had one daughter, Hermione Hannen, and was also a grandfather to Ariane Mnouchkine.

Nicholas Hannen died on June 25, 1972, in London, where he spent most of his life. After his death, he was buried at St. Mary’s Churchyard in Wargrave, Berkshire, England. His contributions to film and theater remain remembered through his performances in various notable films.
