Nutan Samarth was the eldest of four children born to poet Kumarsen Samarth and actress Shobhna Samarth. She had a younger sister, Tanuja Samarth, who is also a well-known actress. In 1959, she married Commander Rajnish Bahl and they had one child, a son named Mohnish Behl.
