Ernst graduated from Odense Teater in 1967, quickly establishing himself as a talented stage actor. He joined Det Kongelige Teater in 1969 and played many leading roles in classic plays like “Hamlet” and “Amadeus.” He became well-known for his part in Hans Kristensen’s gangster film trilogy that began with “Flugten” in 1973, and he starred in numerous other acclaimed films throughout his career.
