Oscar Moore came from a family deeply rooted in music. His father was a blacksmith and led his own brass band, while his older brother, Johnny Moore, had a jazz band. Oscar taught himself to play the guitar at a young age and began touring with his brother’s quartet at the age of 18.

Career

After moving to Los Angeles, Oscar gained recognition as a talented session guitarist. He caught the attention of Nat ‘King’ Cole, who invited him to join his trio. Moore’s exceptional guitar skills helped enhance the group’s popularity. However, he left the trio when the music direction shifted more towards pop, preferring the classic jazz style.

Death and Legacy
