Otto Fries was an American actor who is best known for his roles in films such as “A Night at the Opera,” “Bulldog Drummond Comes Back,” and “The Best Man Wins.”

Personal and Family Life

Otto Fries was born on October 28, 1887, in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Vivian A. Marshall, and they had two children named Sherwood Marshall and Ottilie Vivian. His parents were Emilie Wolford Fries and Daniel Gustav Fries Sr. He had several siblings, including Emilie Fries Majoewsky and Frieda Fries Beinker.

Career

Fries began his career as a stage comic before entering the film industry in the early 1910s. He worked with renowned studios like Keystone and Roach Films, appearing in films alongside famous comedians such as Stan Laurel and Charley Chase. Fries also acted in numerous German-language films as well as bit parts in major movies during the transition to sound films.

Death and Legacy

Otto Fries passed away on September 15, 1938, in Los Angeles, California. He was laid to rest at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where his contributions to the film industry are remembered. He leaves behind a legacy as a versatile actor who entertained audiences for many years.
