Patrick Holt was an American actor best known for his roles in Ivanhoe, No Blade of Grass, and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. Born Patrick George Parsons on January 31, 1912, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, he became a prominent figure in British cinema and television.

Patrick Holt had a diverse upbringing, having spent part of his childhood in India with his uncle. He attended Christ’s Hospital, a well-known charity school in England, where he built a close friendship with future film star Michael Wilding. Holt married actress Sonia Holm in 1948, but they divorced in 1953. In 1955, he married Sandra Dorne, and their marriage was said to be very happy until her passing on Christmas Day, 1992.

Career

Holt started his acting career in repertory theaters and gained recognition on the London stage in 1939. His plans were interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the army and achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel.
