Paul Lukather was born on August 24, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Burt from October 11, 1957, until her passing on March 15, 2006. They had one child, Suzanne Alexis Byall. His parents were Lee Lukather and Phyllis Pinto, and he had a sibling named Bill Lukather.

Lukather received an MFA from the Yale Drama School, beginning his acting career with the Barter Theatre. Over a span of 40 years, he appeared in many films and television shows. In the late 1980s, he transitioned into voice acting, most notably as Vorador in the video game Legacy of Kain series.
