Paul Power

Paul Power was an American actor best known for his roles in “Oil Town U.S.A.,” “Under California Stars,” and “Zenobia.” He had a long career that spanned over 40 years, moving from silent films to television.

Personal and Family Life

Born Luther Raymond Vestergard on December 2, 1902, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Christian Vestergard and Maytha Heckel. Paul was married twice, first to Poppy Wilde from 1934 to 1944, and then to Gertrude Elizabeth Warrington from 1946 to 1948, but he had no children. Additionally, he cared for his mother, who was bedridden, during the last four years of her life.

Career

Paul Power began his acting career in 1926 after moving to Los Angeles. He initially performed in two-reel silent comedies and continued to take on supporting and minor roles throughout his life. His most notable performance was in the Christian film “Oil Town U.S.A.” where he worked alongside his friend, Billy Graham. Paul also served as a lay minister, conducting services at local movie studios and churches.

Death and Legacy

Paul Power passed away on April 5, 1968, at Hollywood West Hospital. His contributions to the entertainment industry spanned several decades, and he is remembered for his versatility as an actor. His performances left a lasting impact on both film and television audiences.
