Paula McClure

Born in Midland, Texas, Paula McClure moved to Dallas as a child. She made her television debut at age 11 on a WFAA children’s program called Gunnysack. Paula graduated from Kimball High School in 1980 and became the first African-American Homecoming Queen during her school year, which was predominantly Anglo-American. She later studied broadcast journalism at Southern Methodist University.

Career

Paula began her professional career in Dallas as an anchor and weather reporter for KDFW-TV while attending university. After graduating in the mid-1980s, she hosted her own talk show called Tuning in With Paula McClure. She then worked for Entertainment Tonight as a celebrity correspondent and was a fashion correspondent for ABC’s The Home Show. In 1996, she returned to Dallas and co-hosted Good Morning Texas for nearly three years.
