Pelle Christensen

Pelle Christensen was a Norwegian actor who is best known for Peer Gynt (1993), Skuggen av ein helt (1972), and Plastposen (1986).

Personal and Family Life

Pelle Christensen was born on March 9, 1923, in Kristiania, Norway, to Gerda Ring and Halfdan Christensen. He had a sister named Bab Christensen. Pelle began his career in acting and made his stage debut in 1949 at the National Theatre, where he worked until 1958.

Career

After his time at the National Theatre, Pelle worked at Rogaland Teater from 1958 to 1962 before joining Den Nationale Scene. In addition to acting, he was also a translator who translated many works from French, including writings by prominent authors like Paul Éluard, Michel Tournier, and Paul Valéry. He became a member of the Norwegian Language Council in 1988, representing the Norwegian Actors’ Equity Association.

Death and Legacy

Pelle Christensen passed away on July 30, 1995, in Norway. His contributions to theatre and film have been remembered, especially for his work in translating significant literary works. His legacy continues through the performances he delivered and the literature he translated.
