Cooper from 1954 until their divorce in 1961, with whom he had one child, and then to Diane Mercer from 1979 until his death.

Peter Dennis was passionate about the works of A.A. Milne, emphasizing that they were not just for children. He toured in a one-man show called “Bother!” starting in 1976, which featured readings from Milne’s classics like Winnie-the-Pooh. His love for the character was evident when he celebrated Winnie-the-Pooh’s 50th birthday with a reading at Cambridge University, which inspired his successful show.
