R.D. MacLean, born Rezin Donald Shepherd, came from a family that valued the arts. He was married to stage actress Odette Tyler from April 1, 1897, until her death on December 8, 1936. Together, they performed in several Shakespearean plays, including the famous “Romeo and Juliet”. MacLean’s father was Henry Shepherd, and his mother was Azemia McLean.
