After working in his father’s medical office, he graduated from the University of Washington and began his acting career. Ralph married Elva Aileen Fox after meeting her at the First Christian Church in Hollywood, and they had five children.

Ralph left acting to support his family, moving to places like Lisbon, New Hampshire, and eventually settling in Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, he worked at Robinsons department store and made guest appearances on local radio shows. He also collaborated with musicians through his local church. Later in life, Ralph moved to Everett, Washington, with his wife Elva and their two younger daughters.
