Rauf Alazan was born on July 3, 1931, in Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from the poster department at DGSA and began drawing cartoons for humor magazines during his studies. In 1963, after the death of his parents, he relocated to Stockholm, Sweden, where he continued to pursue his artistic endeavors.
Career
Initially, Rauf entered the film industry by creating both local and international movie posters. Encouraged by Osman Seden, he transitioned to acting, performing in several films and on stage. He became known for his unique signature style, which included a crow symbol that earned him the nickname “Karga Rauf.”
Death and Legacy
Rauf Alazan passed away on March 26, 2006, in Stockholm, Sweden. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated, and his ashes were scattered by friends in Fenerbahçe Bay, Istanbul. His artistic contributions to cinema and theater, as well as his distinctive cartoons, are remembered by fans and colleagues.
