Raymond Hatton was an American actor who is best known for his roles in the Three Mesquiteers series, the Rough Riders series, and multiple other silent and sound films. Over his long career, he appeared in nearly 500 films.

Raymond William Hatton was born on July 7, 1887, in Red Oak, Iowa. He spent over six decades married to Frances Hatton, from April 17, 1909, until her death on October 16, 1971. Just five days later, on October 21, 1971, he passed away from a heart attack.

Career

Hatton began his acting career in silent films, making his screen debut in 1909. He formed a popular comedy team with Wallace Beery in the early days of film. He is particularly remembered for his role as Rusty Joslin, a tobacco-chewing character in the Three Mesquiteers films. He continued acting into the later years of his career, with his final film, “In Cold Blood,” released in 1967.

Death and Legacy

Raymond Hatton died on October 21, 1971, just days after the death of his wife Frances, marking the end of a life filled with significant contributions to the film industry.
