Red Barber

Red Barber was married to Lylah Scarborough from March 28, 1931, until his death on October 22, 1992. He was known as “The Voice of the Dodgers” for his exceptional work in baseball broadcasting. Barber spent 33 years as a baseball announcer for several teams, including the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Death and Legacy

Red Barber passed away on October 22, 1992, in Tallahassee, Florida, under undisclosed circumstances. He left behind a storied legacy in sports broadcasting, being inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1995 and receiving the Ford C. Frick Award for his contributions to baseball. He was also part of the inaugural class of the American Sportscasters Hall of Fame in 1984.
