Reine Davies was born Irene Douras and was the older sister of famous actress Marion Davies. She had a close family connection with her siblings, including Rosemary Davies. Reine had two children with her first husband, George W. Lederer: a son named Charles Lederer and a daughter named Pepi Lederer, who tragically took her own life in 1935.

Reine started her career early, making her Broadway debut at the age of 16. She became known in film for her performances in silent movies, particularly in Sunday and The Sin Woman. She was married twice, first to George W. Lederer and later to George Regas, until her death.
