Richard Lugar was an American actor who is best known for his roles in Janie, PBS News Hour, and Have You Heard from Johannesburg?: Apartheid and the Club of the West.

Richard Lugar was born on April 4, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was married to Charlene Smeltzer on September 8, 1956, and they had four children together. He had a successful career as a U.S. Senator from Indiana, serving from January 3, 1977, until January 3, 2013. Also, he briefly ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 1996.

Death and Legacy

Richard Lugar passed away on April 28, 2019, in Falls Church, Virginia, due to chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.
