Born as Irvine E. Theodore Baehr, Robert Allen married Evelyn Pierce in 1934, with whom he had two children. After Evelyn’s death in 1960, he later married Frances Cookman in 1964. Allen had a son, Ted Baehr, and a daughter, Katherine Meyer. He was also known for his hobbies of playing polo and riding horses.

Allen started his journey in acting after graduating from Dartmouth College in 1929. He initially worked in banking before moving to Hollywood for acting roles, where he found his niche in westerns during the 1930s and 1940s. He appeared in over 40 films and transitioned into Broadway, performing in major productions like “Show Boat” and “Auntie Mame.” In 1964, he shifted careers to become a real estate broker.
