Born on May 24, 1920, in Sarrogna, Jura, Franche-Comté, France, Robert Lynen became a child star in the 1930s. He was discovered by the famous director Julien Duvivier, who helped launch his acting career. Lynen appeared in several successful films during his youth.

Tragically, Robert Lynen’s life was cut short when he was arrested by the Gestapo on February 7, 1943, for being part of the “Alliance” Resistance group. After enduring torture and attempts to escape, he was sentenced to death and executed on April 1, 1944, in Karlsruhe, Germany. Lynen’s bravery in resisting the Nazi regime has made him a symbol of courage in cinema history.
