Rod La Rocque was born Roderick Ross LaRocque on November 20, 1898, in Chicago, Illinois. He was married to Hungarian actress Vilma Bánky from 1927 until his death in 1969. Their marriage was seen as a publicity boost for both their careers and lasted for over 40 years.

Career

La Rocque began his acting career in his teens, performing in local stock companies and vaudeville. He transitioned to film and quickly gained recognition, especially after his role in The Ten Commandments in 1923.
