Roy Alvarez was born Leandro Delantar Alvarez on March 23, 1950, in Pagbilao, Quezon, Philippines. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. He was married to Nieves Campa-Alvarez and they had one child together.
