Born Sanford Klein on August 5, 1922, in The Bronx, New York City, Kenyon served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he pursued acting and co-founded the Town and Country Players theatre group in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1946. He was married twice, first to Mary Lou Taylor from October 1955 until their divorce in 1972, and later to Charlotte Blaugrund from July 16, 1988, until her death on April 22, 2003.
