Personal and Family Life

Shamim Ara was born to Syed Ali Ahmad and Iqbal Begum, who played a vital role in her film career after her mother’s early passing. She began her journey in showbiz as a dancer, and in 1956, she met director Najam Naqvi in Karachi, launching her acting career with the film Kunwari Bewa. Throughout her life, she married several times, including a brief marriage to film director Fareed Ahmed and later to A. Majeed, with whom she had a son named Salman Iqbal. Her last marriage was to Dabeer-ul-Hasan.

Health Issues

In October 2010, Shamim Ara suffered a brain hemorrhage that required surgery in London. Following the operation, she fell into a coma and remained in that state until her death on August 5, 2016. Her family cared for her during her treatment, with her son Salman at her side. Her passing marked the end of an illustrious career in film, where she acted in over 80 movies.
