Sherri Martel

Sherri Martel was an American professional wrestler and manager, best known for her work in WWF and WCW. She gained fame with her charismatic persona and impressive wrestling skills, particularly recognized as Queen Sherri, Sensational Sherri, and Sister Sherri.

Personal and Family Life

Sherri Martel was born on February 8, 1958, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was previously married to Leroy Gonzales from 1976 to 1978 and later to Robert Schrull from 1997 until her passing in 2007. She had one child from her first marriage.

Career

Martel made significant contributions to wrestling, having won the WWF Women’s title in 1987 by defeating the Fabulous Moolah. She managed several famous wrestlers, including Ted DiBiase and Macho Man Randy Savage. Aside from her managerial roles, she also sang the original version of Shawn Michaels’ iconic entrance theme, “Sexy Boy.”

Death and Legacy

Sherri Martel passed away on June 15, 2007, in Birmingham, Alabama, due to an accidental drug overdose. Her legacy endures in the wrestling community, where she is remembered for her talent and influence on future generations of female wrestlers.
