Shorty Sherock

Shorty Sherock was an American actor who is best known for The Jack Benny Program, Shorty Sherock and His Orchestra, and Jazz Concert. He was also a talented musician known for his work as a trumpet player.

Shorty Sherock was born on November 17, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He married Jean Bach in 1941, but the couple divorced in 1947. In addition to his music career, Sherock studied at the Illinois Military Academy in Abingdon and started playing the cornet as a child before switching to the trumpet.

Career Highlights

Sherock began his music career in 1936 as a sideman with Ben Pollack’s orchestra and later played with notable bands such as those led by Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Crosby, and Gene Krupa. He briefly led his own orchestra from 1945 to 1946 and in 1948, and spent the 1950s and 60s working as a studio musician in Hollywood.
