Sid Haig

Sid Haig was an American actor best known for his roles in House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, and Jackie Brown.

Personal and Family Life

Born on July 14, 1939, in Fresno, California, Sid Haig was originally named Sidney Eddie Mosesian. He came from an Armenian family, with parents Haig and Roxy Mosesian. Sid livened his childhood by taking up dancing lessons and later developed a passion for music, especially drumming. He was married to Susan L. Oberg from November 2, 2007, until his passing.

Career

Sid’s journey into acting began in high school, where a notable casting opportunity set him on a path to the Pasadena Playhouse. After years of hard work, he landed his first professional role in a student film and subsequently built a substantial film and television career. He became well known for his presence in the horror genre, especially after his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s films rejuvenated his career.

Death and Legacy

Haig passed away on September 21, 2019, due to complications from a lung infection after being hospitalized from a fall. He left behind a legacy of memorable performances in over 50 films and 350 television shows, becoming an iconic figure in horror cinema. His portrayal of Captain Spaulding made him a beloved character among fans of the genre.
