Sidney Easton

Sidney Easton was an American actor best known for his roles in His Woman, Ouanga, and Paradise in Harlem.

Personal and Family Life

Born on October 2, 1885, in Savannah, Georgia, Sidney Easton was educated in public schools. He spent much of his early career performing in various live entertainment formats such as minstrel shows, carnivals, burlesque, and vaudeville. Easton was also a talented songwriter and joined the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1955.

Career

Easton was not only known for acting but also for writing songs. Some of his most recognized compositions include “Cast Away on an Island of Love,” “Go Back Where You Stayed Last Night,” and “Tell ‘Em About Me When You Reach Tennessee.” His versatility led him to frequently create special material for performances.

Death and Legacy

Sidney Easton passed away on December 24, 1971, in Flushing, New York. His contributions to both film and music left a lasting impact, particularly within the genres he worked in. His performances and songs remain a part of the rich history of American entertainment.
