He was married to Florence Harriette Fellner from June 9, 1941, until their divorce in August 1973, and they had three children together, including a daughter named Susan Hunt. Adams served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant.

Adams had a long and diverse career in film and television, earning fame for playing minor yet memorable roles. He is particularly remembered for portraying Rusty Trawler in the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and for his appearances in various iconic TV shows like The Twilight Zone and The Odd Couple.
