Stanley Kamel was born on January 1, 1943, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He grew up in South River and attended Rutgers Preparatory School before graduating from Boston University School of Fine Arts in 1965. Kamel had two brothers, Stephen and Robert, and was close with his extended family, including many nieces and nephews.

Kamel’s acting career began with small roles in off-Broadway productions, leading to his significant breakthrough in television. He portrayed Eric Peters on Days of Our Lives from 1972 to 1976 and later became well-known for his role as Dr. Charles Kroger on the popular series Monk. On April 8, 2008, Stanley Kamel passed away at the age of 65 due to a heart attack in his Hollywood Hills home.
