Stephen Bruton was an American actor and composer who is best known for Crazy Heart (2009), Brokeback Mountain (2005), and Across the Universe (2007).

Born on November 7, 1948, in Wilmington, Delaware, Stephen grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where he and his brother were surrounded by music. Their father was a jazz drummer who owned a record store, exposing them to various music genres. Stephen was married to Mary until his passing in 2009.
Death and Legacy
Stephen Bruton passed away on May 9, 2009, in Los Angeles, California, due to throat cancer. He died at the home of his childhood friend, T Bone Burnett. At the time of his death, he had just finished recording the soundtrack for the film Crazy Heart, highlighting his talent and contribution to the music industry.
