Steve Ihnat

Steve Ihnat was an American actor who is best known for Countdown, The Honkers, and Star Trek. He was born on August 7, 1934, in Jastrabie, Czechoslovakia, and passed away on May 12, 1972, in Cannes, France.

Personal and Family Life

Steve Ihnat was married to Sally Carter-Ihnat from May 23, 1970, until his death in 1972. They had one child together, Stefan Ihnat. Unfortunately, Steve’s son, Stefan, died at the age of 32 after battling diabetes. Ihnat’s widow later married Peter Marshall, the host of The Hollywood Squares.

Career

Steve moved to the United States in 1958 to follow his dream of becoming an actor. He studied at the Pasadena Playhouse and served in the Army during the Korean War. While he worked in various films and television series, he never became a U.S. citizen.

Death and Legacy

Steve Ihnat died of a heart attack on May 12, 1972, which was also his wife’s 30th birthday. His passing was announced by his close friend Edward Asner during an Emmy telecast. Steve remains remembered for his diverse roles in film and television, leaving a lasting impact on his viewers.
