He married actress Nargis in 1959, and they had three children together: Priya Dutt, Namrata Dutt, and Sanjay Dutt. Dutt’s personal life was deeply affected by the death of his wife Nargis in 1981, which led him to engage more in politics and social work.

Sunil Dutt started his career as a radio show host before entering films in the mid-1950s. His breakthrough role came in 1957 with the iconic film Mother India, where he played Birju.
