Sven Lindberg was a Swedish actor who is best known for his roles in Elvira Madigan, Glädjekällan, and När kärleken kom till byn.

Sven Lindberg was born on November 20, 1918, in Stockholm, Sweden. He had a unique start to his education as he attended a girls’ school where his aunt taught. He later pursued studies in literature and art history at Stockholm University before turning to acting. Lindberg was married to Marianne von Baumgarten from March 7, 1977, until his death in 2006, and together they had three children.

Career

Lindberg began his acting career in theater before eventually getting into films. He acted in various plays at the Royal Dramatic Theatre and starred in many films during the 1950s, being frequently cast as the charming young man. His big break came with the film När kärleken kom till byn where he played a substitute teacher. Additionally, he earned a Guldbagge award for his outstanding performance as a retired hairdresser in the film Glädjekällan.

Death and Legacy

Sven Lindberg passed away on December 25, 2006, in Stockholm, Sweden, due to a cerebral hemorrhage. His contributions to Swedish cinema and theater have left a lasting legacy. He is remembered for both his versatility in acting and as the voice of Sir Hiss in the Swedish version of Disney’s Robin Hood.
