Tito Guízar, born Federico Arturo Guízar Tolentino on April 8, 1908, in Guadalajara, Mexico, pursued his passion for singing against his father’s wishes. He moved to New York in 1929 to record songs and later hosted a radio show. In 1932, he married Mexican singer Carmen Noriega, and together they had three children: Nina, Lilia, and Tito.

Guízar had a long career in music and acting, performing operatic and Mexican cowboy songs at prominent venues like Carnegie Hall. His film Out on the Big Ranch, released in 1936, is credited with launching the singing cowboy genre in Mexico and was also successful in the U.S. He worked alongside notable stars such as Roy Rogers and Mae West and remained active in Mexican television until the 1990s.
