Tod Andrews

Tod Andrews was an American actor who is best known for Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Heaven Can Wait, and From Hell It Came. He was born Theodore Edwin Anderson on November 9, 1914, in El Paso, Texas, and passed away on November 7, 1972.

Personal and Family Life

Tod Andrews had several marriages throughout his life. He was married to Karolyn Rainwater from October 28, 1967, until his death, and had previously married Valerie Veigel, Alice Kirby Hooker, Gloria Eleanor Folland, and Isabelle Eilenberger. Andrews was known to have had a child with Alice Kirby Hooker.

Career

Andrews began his acting career in the early 1940s, debuting on stage at the Pasadena Playhouse. He worked as a contract player at Warner Brothers, initially using the pseudonym “Michael Ames” for some of his roles. Andrews was recognized for his stage work, including a lead role in “Summer and Smoke” by Tennessee Williams on Broadway in 1948. He later appeared in various films and TV shows, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Death and Legacy

Tod Andrews died from a heart attack on November 7, 1972, in Beverly Hills, California, just two days before his 58th birthday. His performances in films and theater left a mark on the entertainment industry, remembered for his contributions to both mediums.
